2019-2020 Team Tryouts


Welcome to the 2019-2020 Team Tryouts Registration with Oakland Townhawks!

This registration session will allow you to complete contact information, sign up for participation, and submit payment.

Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. 

To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account information available.


Team Tryouts Information

Thank you for your interest the opportunity to get a chance to become an Oakland TownHawks player! 

 Local player tryouts provide players an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the TownHawks basketball operations staff and local coaches. Attendees will compete to earn an invitation to the Oakland TownHawks training camp in October.  

To have the opportunity to tryout participants should do the following:

  • Submit required online, registration form, disclosure and release forms
  • Pay the $50 non-refundable tryout fee to complete your registration. Acceptable forms of payment are all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)    

Tryouts will be limited to the first 50 registered players who submit their completed registration forms and payment. 

Walkup registration is subject to availability and is $100. 

The Oakland TownHawks tryouts are a professional, multi-day ABA combine style tryout and testing process.   Through the tryout process, participants will receive measurements, undergo interviews, undergo shooting drills, five-on-five drills and perform various athletic tests. 

The athletic tests may include:

  • A standing vertical jump
  • Maximum vertical jump 
  • Bench press 
  • Three-quarter-court sprint time 
  • Lane agility time
  • Modified event time

Physical measurements may include 

  • Height with shoe 
  • Height without shoes 
  • Wingspan
  • Weight
  • Standing reach 
  • Body fat
  • Hand length
  • Hand width

The shooting tests include but are not limited to: 

  • Spot-up three-point field goals from various distances depending upon position
  • Shooting off the dribble
  • Timed jump shots on the move 

An athlete's performance during the tryout can affect perception, signing status, salary, and ultimately the player's career.  The entire process will be recorded and the player will be sent a player analysis package.
